Preparations for your trip

The paperwork
We like to keep things as simple and stress free as possible for our hunters. So we just ask that you email us these few things at least a month prior to your hunt, so we can make organising your safari as hassle free as possible.
- Passport details i.e. date and place of birth, passport number, date and place of issue, nationality
- Details of which firearms you will be bringing i.e. type of gun, make, calibre, serial number, number of rounds of ammunition. Please ensure that all these details are correct as a mistake in the serial number could lead to your firearm being held by customs, resulting in delays
- Three guns is the maximum which can be brought into Tanzania per hunter. Ammunition is limited by the international airlines to 5kg (11lb) per person including the weight of the box/case. N.B - The minimum calibre by law for big game (lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant) is .375 and above.
- Two passport photographs per hunter.
- If you intend to hunt leopard or elephant which are on CITIES appendix one you will need to apply for a CITIES pre-import/import permit in the country into which you intend to import the trophies. Please contact your trophy clearing agent or taxidermist who will be able to assist you with the application for these permits. A copy of this will need to be sent to us on completion of your safari to facilitate the exportation of your trophies.
- Please provide us with the name and contact details of the clearing agent and taxidermist you will be using for your trophies.
- If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance so that we can do our best to meet your needs.
- We provide soft drinks and bottled water free of charge. If you would like any other drinks please let us know so we can purchase these and send to the camp, or bring some with you.
- Please note that in Tanzania only ‘new’ dollar notes are accepted i.e. those printed after the year 2000. ‘Old’ notes are not accepted anywhere, even in banks, so for hotels, tips, payment of trophy fees, shopping etc. you will need new notes.
- Visas for entry into Tanzania can be obtained at the airport on arrival. The visa fee varies according to nationality.

Contact information in case of emergency
- Contact name and telephone number in case of emergency
- Medical insurance policy number and details.
- Any allergies, medical conditions which we may need to know about.

Medical
Malaria is prevalent in Tanzania and we recommend you take malaria prophylaxis during your stay. It is best to seek medical advice from your doctor as to which drug would be best for you to take.

Travelling with firearms
When booking your international flight to Tanzania please be sure to advise the airline that you will be travelling with firearms and ammunition. It may be necessary to apply for special permits and this may take time. Also bear in mind that maximum weight of ammunition per hunter on international airlines is 5kg (11lbs) including the box/case.

Suggested Packing List
Below is what we recommend you bring for your hunting trip. We offer a same day laundry service in our camps so you don’t need to worry about weighing yourself down with lots of luggage. We advise that you pack soft bags instead of suitcases as these are easier to fit in the charter aircraft which will take you from Dar Es Salaam/Arusha to the camp. We also recommend you bring soft gun cases so that if needed your firearms can be transferred from the hard cases on arrival in Tanzania to allow more room on the charter plane.
